START WITH THE BASICSWear it often. Store it thoughtfully. Deal with spills before they become a personality trait.
THE FOUR-MOVE ROUTINE
Remove surface dust with a soft, clean cloth. For smooth leather, use a barely damp cloth and let it dry naturally.
Apply a suitable leather conditioner sparingly. Test it somewhere discreet first. Leather enjoys moisture, not a facial.
Use a material-appropriate protector for moisture and stains. Reapply according to the product instructions.
Store away from direct heat, humidity and strong sunlight. Give shoes and bags enough space to keep their shape.
BY MATERIAL
Wipe gently, condition occasionally and avoid soaking. Natural creasing and a soft patina are part of leather becoming yours.
Keep it dry, use a suede brush in one direction and leave serious stains to a specialist. Water and suede are acquaintances, not friends.
Handle embellishments gently and clean with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid pulling, twisting or exposing them to perfume and household chemicals.
Buff lightly with a clean microfibre cloth. Keep metal details away from moisture, perfume and abrasive surfaces.
SHOES
Rotate pairs where possible, dry them naturally after wear and use tissue or shoe supports to help retain shape. Never place leather beside a heater, however impatient you feel.
BAGS
Store in the dust bag, lightly filled with tissue. Do not hang a loaded bag by its straps for long periods. Empty forgotten lipsticks before they stage a coup.
